Courageous Conversations

Courageous Conversations is our way of building our students' and staff's capacity to engage in conversations around race and equity. We use a modified Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) protocol. This protocol allows students to enter the conversation at their own developmental level and allows the teachers to facilitate in whichever direction the students take it without feel as though they are putting in their own opinion as educator/adult.
 
Every Wednesday, from 8:45-9:30 AM students in K-5 engage in a read aloud/photograph/video/or poem that aligns to our theme of the month (PK, monthly).  
 
Each month focuses on a different culture or ethnic group to allow our school to celebrate everyone that is represented at P.S. 770.

December: Arab American Heritage Month
January: Jewish American Heritage Month
February: Black History Month/Black Lives Matter Week in Schools
March: Women's History Month
April: Disability Awareness Month
May: Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month
June: Pride Month
